Target Audience:
Students seeking new job opportunities who want to develop and implement effective plans that focus and target their job search.

Workshop Goal: Help students apply a proven process, tools, and resources to more quickly identify job environments and companies that "fit" their needs and use their talents.

Benefits: Building Achievements provides a more proactive, timely, cost effective and results-oriented process than the traditional student job search effort.


Students will benefit by:

  • Identifying their talents (what they bring to the party)
  • Identifying their needs (what they value, and how to identify working environments and organizations that will bring out their best)
  • Accelerating their job search
  • Identifying organizations and potential job opportunities that meet their needs
  • Developing Achievement goals and Action Plans to keep their job search on track
  • Identifying resources to help them uncover good potential opportunities and to provide information and support to help them achieve their goals
  • Gaining tips for preparing for and putting their best face forward during interviews

Making better job selection decisions by searching for the best fit for their needs and talents, and the needs of the hiring organization

To take advantage of all your abilities, provide a sense of control and personal fulfillment in securing the right job, in the right organization, for the right reasons.

Professional Vision that provides a desirable career direction for you.
3. Specify Achievement Goals for conducting your job search and securing a position.
4. Select a Strategy for how you will approach the job market.
5. Develop Action Plans for securing the job and evaluating opportunities encountered in your search.
6. Specify future Achievement Plans you want to achieve during your first twelve months on-the-job, using a method for continuous improvement with available tools and resources.

Building Achievements Planning Process:

As a result of this workshop, you will develop an Achievement Goal for securing your new job and developing Achievement Plans that provide a road map for your success in this new position.

1. Professional Vision: A perception of "what and how" you plan to contribute to the organization you join.
2. Achievement Goal: Objectives for securing the new job.
3. Job Search Strategy: How you plan to approach the job market.
4. Action Plans: Clearly defined activities, outcomes, responsibilities and milestones for securing the job.
5. Assessment: Objective assessment of your job search and opportunities based on your vision, goals and action plans.
6. Achievement Plans: Accomplishments you would like to make during your first year in the new job.
